About

Me Pen Sophea

Lawyer at the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, based in Phnom Penh, with a practice focused on financial crime and anti-money-laundering.

Me Pen Sophea is a lawyer registered with the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia (BAKC), member No. 3296. He was sworn in on 10 October 2025 and has been a full-right lawyer since 13 October 2026. Based in Phnom Penh, he devotes his practice to a field of strategic importance for the country: financial crime and the fight against money laundering.

Born in 1973, he came to the Bar with the maturity and life experience of a professional in his fifties — a real asset in cases where credibility, rigour and an understanding of economic realities matter as much as knowledge of the law.

Before joining the Bar, Me Pen Sophea had a first career outside the law, which gave him direct knowledge of Cambodia's economic and human realities. That experience led him to specialise in financial crime: he saw how fraud and money-laundering schemes affect victims and businesses before he ever argued such cases in court.

He works in Khmer and English and receives clients by appointment in Phnom Penh.
